  • Fun: This is a friendly competition, so have fun, be creative, and enjoy the community spirit of the event!
  • Quantity: Each participant must prepare a minimum of 6 quarts of chili. This ensures there is enough for sampling and judging.
  • Ingredients: All ingredients must be pre-cooked prior to the event. Chili should be brought in a slow cooker or another warming device to keep it hot throughout the competition.
  • Labeling: Each entry must include a list of ingredients with any potential allergens clearly marked (e.g., nuts, dairy, gluten, shellfish, etc.). This helps attendees with allergies or dietary restrictions make informed choices.
  • Preparation: Chili must be homemade.
  • Serving: Participants are responsible for serving their chili to attendees and judges. Please bring a serving ladle and any desired toppings (cheese, onions, sour cream, etc.).
  • Judging: Chili will be judged based on taste, texture, appearance, and originality. This is a People’s Choice contest.
  • Setup: Participants should arrive at the Lakefront Pavilion no later than 30 minutes before the event start time to set up their station.
  • Cleanliness: Please maintain a clean serving area. Bring any necessary supplies to clean up your space after the event.
  • Safety: Follow all food safety guidelines, including keeping hot foods hot (above 140°F) and cold foods cold (below 40°F). Ensure that chili remains at a safe temperature for the duration of the event.
